Didcot 6023 work party

Today I went over to do more painting. Some under the locomotive, and other little bits in readiness for parts to be fitted on the loco next weekend.
Other news is that good progress was made on the boiler in the week. With quite a lot of stays being put in on one side.

One of those jobs that just hadn't been done... Since the bogie went back under the loco in 1992, we just hadn't got round to finishing the underside paint work.

I took a few shots of the lubrication pipework. You can see why Pete.T & Tony have working hard on getting it done each weekend.

It is a complex layout, and bending the pipes in the correct order is very important.

The Great Western style inside cylinder cover, now glossed and stored ready for the day when 6023 is turned out in 1948 GW green.

Today the steam crane was in operation. Moving the large 50ton steam cranes boiler ready for it to be tested.
